Why Choose 'The Bishop' Sixth Form?
The sixth form at The Bishop of Llandaff is highly successful, offering a varied, flexible and highly personalised curriculum of academic courses as well a wide range of enrichment activities that meet the needs, abilities and aspirations of all students.
If you have been at The Bishop of Llandaff for your secondary education to date, you will have already built up strong relationships with other students, teachers and support staff. As a community of professionals who know you well, we believe that by choosing to continue your post-16 study with us, you will be building on what is already a successful partnership.
If you are a new student looking to join The Bishop of Llandaff we will help you to settle into our very diverse and vibrant community, make new friends quickly and achieve your full potential. We are a Christian community but one which positively welcomes applications from students from all faiths or none, believing that the ethos we cultivate here is one where all post-16 students can thrive. Large numbers of students do in fact join us from various schools in the surrounding area and soon find themselves at the heart of our hospitable and all-embracing community.
Choosing what to do in the sixth form is a real challenge, one where you entirely opt for routes of learning for the first time. Therefore, we see it as our role to provide support to make this transition easier. Before entering the sixth form, we will offer you access to highly professional support in making decisions around suitable course choices. We invest heavily in this process, believing that the choice of which subjects to study is every bit as important as where to study them. Each year we hold a taster day where all potential students (both internal and external) can sample A Level subjects before making their final choices. We consult widely during this process and design option columns that enable students to access the subjects of their choosing. We often find that students are able to combine subjects not possible with other post-16 providers and thus provide a programme of study that best fits their needs and aspirations.
Once in the sixth form you will be taught by outstanding teaching staff and receive the guidance of highly committed pastoral and support professionals. You will be assigned a personal tutor who will offer you advice and guidance, provide personalised support when things get tough and assistance with writing your CV, letters of application and Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) applications.
We are a happy and successful sixth form community and one where the academic ability of every student is identified, nurtured and developed. Our aspiration is to provide you with a first-class, tailored provision appropriate to your specific needs and it is for this reason that we believe you should choose to study with us.
