Sixth Form Open Evening (17.11.22)

As students in Year 11 begin to think about post-16 education, families must be confident that the support their child will receive gives them the best chance of success. On Thursday 17th November 2022, we look forward to welcoming existing students and prospective Year 11 students to our sixth form open evening. The event will commence at 5.30pm with a presentation in the main hall, followed by an opportunity to discuss options via subject stalls. External applicants may arrive from 4.45pm and speak with existing students and the sixth form team. Our sixth form is a vibrant and dynamic community where students receive high quality teaching in a culture of high expectations and excellent pastoral care. All students are challenged and supported to achieve their full potential, as shown by our excellent results. In 2022, 39% of students achieved 3 or more A*A grades; while 90% achieved 3 or more A*C grades. Overall, 52% of all grades were at A*A standard; 75% at A*B and 94% at A*C. Successful applicants would be joining one of the top performing sixth forms across the country.

Year 6 Open Evening (Thursday 6th October 2022)

Our Open Evening for Year 6 families will take place on Thursday 6th October 2022 from 5.30pm until 7.30pm. Tours of the school with an opportunity to speak to students and staff in departments will be available until 7.00pm.  There will be a presentation from Mr Belli, Headteacher, at 5.30pm, which is repeated at 6.15pm and 7.00pm. We look forward to welcoming you. To Apply Applicants will need to complete and submit the school application form. This should be submitted to the admissions officer. Application packs and forms will be available on the night. Alternatively, you can access these via the link. In addition, families will be required to complete their local authority online portal form, indicating The Bishop of Llandaff CiW High School as their preferred choice (where this is the case!). Both elements of the application needs to be completed by no later than 12.00pm on Monday 21st November 2022.

Start of Term Arrangements

We hope that everyone is enjoying the lovely summer break. A reminder that the new academic year commences on Monday 5th September 2022. However, as standard, we have allocated this day and Tuesday 6th September as INSET days. Therefore, the term will commence for all students on Wednesday 7th September. Information Evenings We will be holding a number of parent/carer information evenings at the start of the year to support families. These will all commence at 7.00pm and are held in the main hall. I should be grateful if you could make yourself available for the following Monday 12th September Year 11 Information Evening; Thursday 15th September Year 10 Information Evening; Monday 19th September Year 13 Information Evening; Thursday 22nd September Year 12 Information Evening; Monday 26th September Year 8/9 Information Evening; and Thursday 29th September Year 7 Information Evening. Uniform Prior to the start of term, we ask that families take time to read the uniform expectation guide, which is available on our uniform section of the website. We want our students to be proud of their school, and a uniform is one way in which they can do this. However, we do not wish uniform to be a barrier for learning and, to this end, we have refreshed stocks of blazers; skirts; ties; trousers and shoes (of all sizes) in readiness for September, should a student turn up without full/correct school uniform. Please be aware there are grants available for families towards the cost of uniform. Information about the grant is available here. The application for the grant is available via your designated local authority, where you reside (click on link to apply via Cardiff; RCT; Vale of Glamorgan; Newport; Bridgend).
